Why, Hello There
|
I dwell in the Midwest and have taught second grade for three years. When I graduated, I told myself I wouldn't teach below 4th grade because it "wasn't a good fit", but alas--here I am. & I can confidently say I wouldn't have it any other way. I love empowering my 7 and 8 year old students to do things they didn't know they were capable of, and I love proving others wrong when they tell me "Oh 2nd grade is too young to use ____ type of tech". I'm passionate about bringing technology into the hands of little minds for the purpose of creativity and innovation, and I'm passionate about teaching digital citizenship from the youngest age possible on up.
I'm married to the most patient + gracious husband alive, Brice, and we're currently in remodel-mode of our home from the inside out. We love to travel, our favorite trips being those where hiking, seeing new things, and exploring nature is involved. I do calligraphy as a creative outlet on the side for Etre Design & Co. and love all things eye-for-design whether it be home design, graphic design, typography design, and more. I adore reading and my favorite reads are contemporary + literary fiction and adventure novels. Give me a cup of coffee, a warm wood-burning fire, and a new novel, and I'm content. Harry Potter will forever have my heart as making me fall back in love with reading, and I've listened through all of the audio books twice. I have an obsession and fascination with children's literature + picture book illustrations. A lifelong dream of mine is to work with a professional illustrator to author and publish and children's book someday. This blog is a way for me to reflect on my practice + theory of education and learning. It's a journal of my growth as an educator where I hope to share my perspective, my successes, my failures, my favorite things, and my epiphanies. Welcome, and please get in touch with me! |
